Forget drive in movies; in San Diego, it’s all about the “dive in”! The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma offers a free weekly poolside movie screening. The films are projected onto a 10x13 foot projection screen with full sound, overlooking their beautiful swimming pool. Showtime is always 8pm, food is served from the adjoining restaurant until 10pm, and the bar stays open until 11pm. All theater seating is first come, first serve, unless your party includes 6 people or more, in which case you can reserve a cabana for dinner. The swimming pool is open to non-hotel guests with the purchase of a beverage from the bar. March is John Hughes-appreciation month at The Pearl and this Wednesday, March 2nd, will feature Sixteen Candles. Check out The Pearl’s Facebook and Twitter pages for more details on this awesome venue!

When was the last time you saw a live show at SOMA? Relive your youth and get sweaty in the crowd this Thursday, March 3rd, for the Thrice and Circa Survive show. Even if you have never heard of either of these bands, the energy and passion they exude is hard to ignore. Or maybe you have been following Anthony Green, the lead singer of Circa Survive, through his several musical endeavors, in which case I’m sure you already have your tickets. Since SOMA is an all-ages venue, the kiddies are more than welcome to join! Get the latest info on shows coming to San Diego with SOMA’s Facebook page.
