A by-women, for-women film festival, LUNAFEST is coming to Carlsbad for one night only on Feb 1, 2011 at the La Costa Resort & Spa. The festival was established in 2000 by the creators of LUNA bars to simultaneously promote women filmmakers, raise awareness for women’s issues, and support worthy non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada. For additional details and email reminders about the event, check out the calendar.

In case you hadn't noticed, San Diego is chock full of incredible museums. Starting February 1st, you can explore these attractions during San Diego Museum Month. Until the end of the month, interested San Diego museum goers can pick up a free pass at any Macy’s store in San Diego that will grant 50% off trips to San Diego museums and historic sites. From contemporary art to Maritime magic, there's something for everyone! It's a great opportunity to visit (or rediscover!) new museums in Balboa Park and surrounding communities at a discounted price.

Arrrrrr matey! Perhaps you're in the mood for some fun in the sun? In partnership with Hornblower Cruises and the San Diego Natural History Museum, enjoy stunning views of San Diego and a 3-5 hour Whale & Dolphin Watching Adventure cruise with the family. According to the Captain's Log, there have been up to 30-40 Gray whales spotted in one day alone! Tickets are $34 for adults and $17 for children.
