In this month's blog, we share some tips on knowing if your car needs new tires! Changing your vehicle tires is more than just adding a new item to your vehicle. It ensures your safety while driving on the road, and you can have a smoother drive.

When your tire treads are worn, your vehicle might not handle weather conditions to stop correctly. Keep in mind that having insufficient tread is considered illegal in many states, and if you are wondering how to know when it is time for new tires, below are some tips on how to figure it out.

Penny trick: With president Lincoln's head pointing down, insert a penny into the grooves on your tire tread. If the tire tread hides any part of Lincoln's head, then your tires are fine! Otherwise, you will need new tires.

Falling air pressure: If your tire is losing air pressure. That could be a sign of a small leak, on which you could either patch it or replace it.

Uneven tire tread wears: There will be times when the track on a tire wears off at different rates. Your vehicle tires can look good from one side but overused from the other side.

Bubble on the side: Most of the time, bubbles can develop on the sides of the threads of the tires, which means it's time for a new tire.

Cracked rubber: If the rubber in your tires has broken, it's time for new tires! Cracks can show that the rubber has degraded, which can be caused by age or improper use.

Maintaining proper tire pressure and health can drastically improve handling and braking performance. If you ever struggle to figure out if you need new tires, don't think twice and visit us at Convoy Auto Repair, where our auto mechanics can help you!
