February is here, and that means Valentine’s day is around the corner. Do you have a plan for what to do when you pick up your date? San Diego has great options, and it’s hard to hit them all unless you work at it over time. Here are five suggestions for romantic places to go that you need to be sure are on your list to visit.
Ellen Browning Scripps Park
Many people pass right by the park on their way to the nearby La Jolla Cove - which is worth a visit, make no mistake! But don’t get back in your car once you’ve visited the cove. Ellen Browning Scripps park is beautiful for a walk all on its own, and you’ll see weddings held here on a regular basis for that reason. If you want to make a day of it, there’s many dining and shopping options in the nearby commercial district.
With its excellent view of the San Diego skyline, it’s no wonder that Coronado Landing is another popular location for weddings. When you’re done enjoying your romantic stroll along the waterfront, you can catch a ferry ride across the water. Or, if you’d rather stay longer, you can get cozy at one of the waterfront eateries, enjoy nearby shopping, or do a little bar hopping. If you want a sportier romantic outing, biking, kayaking, and other adventures are options for you here as well.
Heritage Park is another beautiful locale with its own unique scenery and features. Some of the park’s beautifully restored Victorian homes also serve as bed and breakfasts. All of the dining, shops, and museums in and around the park give you enough to do for a great weekend getaway. San Diego’s first synagogue, Temple Beth Israel is also nearby the park. Unsurprisingly, many couples will choose Heritage park as the site of their weddings.
Orfila Vineyards & Winery
If you’re looking to get out of the city to indulge yourself, the Orfila Vineyards might be just the ticket. If wine and cheese in a serene setting sound good to you, look no further. Since opening in 1994, they’ve won over 1,000 medals in national and international competitions. If you opt to hold your wedding here, your guests won’t lack for entertainment, as their wine tasting room is held as a treasure by many in the area. Let your next date night be here, and see why Orfila Vineyards is routinely recommended as a place to visit.
The name truly says it all. If you’ve ever wanted to do a picnic, it’s hard to beat the views offered here. Pull into the parking lot right on the cliff, and just take everything in with your date. As with the other locations in our list, this is another picture perfect place for a wedding. The beaches below are very popular for surfing if you’re looking for a thrill, or if you’re looking for a more easygoing time, you can walk the abundance of paths, and pick a spot to settle down and watch the sunset.
