Holiday Vacations: Instead of Home for the Holidays

The holidays are the busiest travel season of the year, but not everyone is headed back home! The winter season can be the best time to take a little road trip with family or friends and enjoy some quality time together. Here are a few of our favorite holiday destinations! Where to Go Instead of Home

Holiday Vacations

Palm Springs

If you’re looking for swinging, happening place to spend the holidays, look no further than southern California’s own desert oasis. The retro-feel of this town will have your singing the Sinatra versions of all your favorite holiday carols. There’s plenty to do too, from the tram up to the San Jacinto Mountains, oodles of shops and restaurants, and clubs for the night-crowd. The winter season is a popular time in Palm Springs, so be sure to book your rooms early!

Joshua Tree National Park

If you’re more of an outdoorsy traveler, Joshua Tree is a fantastic place to visit over the winter holidays. Rain is rare in So-Cal, even in the winter, so the odds of your camping trip being rained out are pretty low. Sleep under the stars and enjoy the stunning views of the desert. The spring is a more popular time to head out to the desert, so the crowds are minimal this time of year. Be sure to bring all your climbing gear, Joshua Tree has some of the best rock climbing in the region!

Big Bear

Here in San Diego, we don’t see a lot of what the rest of the country calls “winter.” Lucky for us, a short jaunt up into the mountains can give us that snowy wonderland we find so mysterious! Big Bear mountain is one of the better snowboarding and skiing destinations in So-Cal, but you can find some more secluded cabins further from the resorts if you’re looking for more privacy. Running off to a snowy mountaintop for the holidays is one of the few ways we can get that quintessential Christmas around here! As always, if you’re headed out on the highway for an extended trip, make sure that your car is up to the task. Check your tires, fluids, and perform any basic maintenance before you hit the road. Or schedule an appointment and we’ll do it for you!
